Not too long ago a young man who was from Clearwater lost his life because he drown and didn’t know how to swim. Before his young life ended this young man lost his mom to breast cancer. He wore a pink shirt every Friday in her memory. He never forgot the disease that took her life. Our high school football team is playing the high school football team of where this young man lost his life. I guess to some it seems pretty sad and easy to make jokes about someone who didn’t know how to swim and dies. So these individuals are sending messages about coming to our town this Friday and wearing floaties to make fun of this young man’s death. I say all this for a few reasons. Why is death funny? Especially for a young person to die. I don’t find that funny… So I am asking all those who live in Clearwater whether you go to the game or not. Lets take a stand and show this other community that death is real this young man’s death while tragic and sad stood for something. Wear pink…..shirt, pants, sweatshirt, whatever just in support and in memory of him. ” Report Reply 0 replies · active 356 weeks ago +6 Vote up Vote down guest · 356 weeks ago Thanks WHS Grad for the idea! We could wear pink too! To show that we aren’t all jerks, that we see the tragedy in a young life lost, that we do not see death as a joke. All week I’ve been worried about how we can go to Clearwater and not be seen as a town full of jerks. I thought maybe we just shouldn’t go, but that is so unfair to the 99% that are good kids, that don’t condone this twisted taunting. Why should they feel like we don’t support them? Maybe this is it ~ show Clearwater it is merely a small minority of people who find pleasure in others’ pain, and they are bullies, and they are raising bullies! WEAR PINK! I agree, there is nothing funny about this! It’s tough to be supportive of our hometown when we have kids that have to do something stupid!! I think the game should be cancelled or forfeit due to disrespect. Maybe that would teach some that their actions are not acceptable. I’m ashamed to call myself a Wellington crusader supporter!! Twitter,Instagram, Facebook to name a few have the ability to do a lot of damage very quickly. When you are a student athlete you are not just representing yourself but your school and community at all times. Not just while school is in session or a sporting event is taking place. At the college level it is stressed in no uncertain terms that you have to be aware and responsible for what you post as well as what others may post about you. It is stressed that you will be held accountable. I understand that there is probably not a specific policy to deal with this type of incident at the current time. Check around and see how others deal and address social media. Parents and students need to know this is a very serious and it’s not funny or a joke. It’s serious . How many of us as parents even know what are kids are tweeting or posting. Start with our own kids. Let’s educate the kids and parents. Points Series history: Not so long ago, Wellington-Clearwater was an example of two programs so far apart on the spectrum that people didn’t want to watch the games because it would be such a blowout in the Crusaders favor. That changed in the late 2000s’ when Clearwater was giving Wellington all it could handle. Then Clearwater picked up wins in 2010 and 2011. This is now quite the battle as there is little separation between the two programs. Arsenal, meanwhile, have lost goalkeeper Petr Cech and Laurent Koscielny for the derby and are still without Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who could all be missing for most, if not, the rest of the season.

Johannesburg, Thursday 17 September 2015 – Brand South Africa today took the national agenda to build and profile South Africa’s competitive strengths to Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, during a one-day workshop. The workshop was attended by local government representatives and officials from the Department of Health, Department of Rural Development and Land Reform, and the Government Communication and Information System.Robust discussion ensued on what makes South Africa a globally competitive inward destination for investment, tourism and skills and how provinces can play their part.Provincial and city brands are a critical building block of the nation brand, particularly as they often provide the first experience of a country. Visitors and investors experience a country through its provinces and cities and it for this reason that Brand South Africa is taking its programmes to provinces. One of the greatest attributes of the province of Mpumalanga and a significant contribution to the nation brand is its tourism offering and experience which begins at the airport. Discussions at the workshop centered on economic development and potential in the province. This will impact positively on both provincial social and economic development and ultimately South Africa’s reputation.Follow the conversation on #CompetitiveSA
