Newly on the market, the full-floor penthouse on level 36 of the exclusive Royal Domain Tower complex boasts panoramic views of the city and the waterfront. Bought as a shell for $5.54 million in 2006, Mr Stamoulis and wife Valenti are believed to have spent millions of dollars customising it into one of the largest and most luxurious apartments in the city. The property has four bedrooms, formal entertaining area, family room, study, two bars, butler’s pantry, six parking spaces, fireplace, all stone floors and two outdoor terraces overlooking Albert Park Lake and the Shrine. Royal Domain Tower also offers a 24-hour concierge service, pool, gym, library, business centre and golf driving range.‘St Kilda Road is probably the best location for an apartment in Melbourne,” Ms Stamoulis said to The Age. ”The apartment has 360 degree views and you can watch the air show, Grand Prix, Moomba parade and hot air balloons rising over the city. At night, the view of the city lights is amazing.” The couple plans to move to their new $54 million Toorak mansion which is nearing completion. Based on Vanderbilt family’s historic Marble House in the US, the mansion is tipped to become one of the country’s most expensive private residences when it’s finished next year. After spending $24 million to acquire the land, the couple will outlay about $30 million on the construction and fitout of the 3200 square metre home, which will include five bedrooms, ballroom, theatre, pool and tennis court. For the apartment, the agents are looking promote the property to overseas buyers and inspections are by appointment only. The listing could break records for apartment sales in Melbourne, with fellow property developer Elias Jreissati in a competition. Mr Jreissati recently put his three-level penthouse in the HMAS Lonsdale building in Port Melbourne up for sale at $20 million. The current record stands at $19.3 million for a penthouse in the East Melbourne development 150 Clarendon Street.
