first_imgPrepared by FFWPU USA“My little daughter lies at the point of death. I pray you, come and lay your hands on her, that she may be healed, and she shall live.” (King James 2000, Mark 5:23).These are the words spoken by Jairus, a father and ruler of the synagogue, who acted on faith when he desperately sought Jesus’ help to heal his sick daughter. These words were again echoed on Saturday, June 16 by Rev. Dr. Najuma Smith-Pollard when she delivered a powerful message entitled “A Father’s Faith Will Heal” at the Los Angeles American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC) Prayer Breakfast.Rev. Pollard is the Program Manager for the Cecil Murray Center for Community Engagement at the University of Southern California and she is also Founder and Pastor of the Word of Encouragement Community Church. To commemorate Father’s Day and to recognize the vital role of fathers in the family, she called the fathers and grandfathers who were in the audience forward to pray as her message concluded. The ACLC Los Angeles Co-Chair, Dr. Nicholas Benson, invited Rev. George Kazakos of the Los Angeles Family Church to explain the deep spiritual significance of the Holy Wine Ceremony and the Marriage Blessing Ceremony initiated by True Parents. Then the pastors of Christian Light Missionary Baptist Church, Bishop J.L. Briggs and First Lady Peggy Briggs came forward to officiate a Blessing of Marriage and Family.Reflections“What a powerful gathering it was today to celebrate fathers for Father’s Day under the ministry of ACLC. As a father, Jarius had position, power, prestige, and access to privileges yet he still had to seek out the Savior to gain access to what he did not have; the ability to save his child. I cannot express the fullness of the message as it exposed what you will do when something hits your life so intently that it causes you to repent and step into a position that will allow God to move in your life. God needs us to take a rightful stand for our children and for our families.” – Pastor Evon McMurry, Word Empowerment to Serve Ministries“It was truly a celebration of marriage and family. I left very inspired and look forward to getting together again.” – Dr. Eva Benson, First Summit Evangelical ChurchThe message today was something I needed to hear at this moment. A big part of faith is about endurance. Jarius just stood there waiting in faith, in his rightful position before God and his daughter was healed. – Rev. George Kazakos, Los Angeles Family Churchlast_img read more
