ELL 9-10 softball team beats Glenburn in 2nd state tournament game

first_imgELLSWORTH — The Ellsworth Little League 9-10 All-Star team defeated Glenburn Little League 8-2 in an elimination game Sunday to stay alive in state tournament play.Camryn Clough struck out 12 batters for Ellsworth in the circle and had two hits at the plate. Ellsworth also got big hitting performances from Elizabeth Boles (3 for 3 with a triple) and Sydney Mason (2 for 2 with a home run).The win came a day after Ellsworth suffered a 3-0 defeat to Westbrook Little League. Kaylee Bagley struck out eight batters for Ellsworth in the loss, and Lizzie Boles doubled at the plate for the team’s only hit.Ellsworth faced off against tournament host Biddeford Little League on Monday, but the game was suspended in the top of the second inning with Biddeford leading 2-1. WAFA under-16 place second as Emmanuel Intori wins MVP at 2019 Next Generation Trophy

first_imgWAFA under-16 lost could not defend their trophy as Valencia beat them by two goals to one in the 2019 Next Generation Trophy hosted in Austria.Despite the loss, the Ghanaian based club had one of its players been awarded the best player of the tournament.Emmanuel Intori becomes the second successive Ghanaian to win that award for WAFA.He scored four goals in the course of the tournament as the Ghanaian club reached yet another final of the Next Generation Trophy.WAFA played out a goalless game against Valencia before beating New York Red Bull to top Group C.The team progressed on to beat Benfica 4-2 and then defeated Schalke 04 in the semi-finals to set a showpiece against Valencia.The Spanish side denied WAFA their second consecutive trophy of the tournament which is organized under the umbrella of Red Bull.last_img read more
