They started the year off strong with their Jen Bartel-designed Captain Marvel sneakers and kicked it up a notch for the release of Avengers: Endgame with not only a full lineup of superhero-inspired basketball sneakers but another Bartel joint that drew inspiration from the villainous Thanos. With one more major Marvel movie hitting theaters next month (it’s the one with the spider fellow) adidas is keeping the collaboration going strong with a brand new silhouette.D.O.N. ISSUE #1 Symbiote Spider-Man. (Photo Credit: adidas)The adidas D.O.N Issue #1 (I’m already sold on the name alone) is the first signature sneaker of Utah Jazz superstar Donovan Mitchell. Long nicknamed “The Spider” (move over, Anderson Silva), Mitchell’s first shoe draws inspiration from his figurative namesake, the spectacular, amazing, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.D.O.N. ISSUE #1 Stealth Spider-Man. (Photo Credit: adidas)Let’s start with the new silhouette: the D.O.N Issue #1 features a wider outsole than usual — not to bore you if you aren’t into basketball talk but this is meant to provide extra stability for anyone going for slam dunks in these shoes as those landings can be tricky. It also features a propulsion clip on the sides of each shoe to provide support in lateral movements. The shoe’s sole contains adidas’s signature BOUNCE cushioning as well, which you don’t need if you already have spider powers but will definitely help your jump shot if you don’t.AdChoices广告D.O.N. ISSUE #1 Marvel’s Iron Spider. (Photo Credit: adidas)Now let’s get down to the Spidey of it all: first off, the shoes feature a classic spider logo on the tongue and a wavy web-like design on each side. It’s also got four distinct colorways lined up, each drawing inspiration from a different Spider-Man costume. The shoe will be debuting on July 1 with the Amazing Spider-Man colorway, which comes in the classic Spidey red and blue. That’s followed by the Symbiote Spider-Man on July 18, which is based off of the symbiote suit that eventually became that Tom Hardy character. Stealth Spider-Man, which looks to be prominently featured in Far From Home is next on August 1. The first wave concludes with a red and gold Iron Spider colorway on August 31.The shoes will run for $100 and are all set to be available on the adidas website on July 1 and adidas stores on July 5.More on Geek.com:Adidas Basketball Celebrates ‘Avengers: Endgame’ With ‘Heroes Among Us’ CollaborationBest Shoes of 2019 (So Far) for Sneaker GeeksAdidas Announces ‘Game of Thrones’ Sneaker Collaborationlast_img read more
